Overview
Replacing your old 24V irrigation controller with a Grungard device is straightforward. Your existing valve wiring can be reused — no need to dig up or re-run cables.
1. Turn Off Power
Disconnect the power supply to your old controller before removing any wires. Safety first.
2. Document Your Current Wiring
Before disconnecting anything, take a photo of the existing wiring or label each wire with its zone number. This will make reconnection much easier.
3. Remove the Old Controller
Disconnect all zone wires and the common wire from the old unit. Remove the controller from the wall.
4. Mount the Grungard Controller
Attach the Grungard device to the wall using the included mounting hardware. Route the existing wires to the new controller.
5. Reconnect the Wires
- Connect all common wires to the C terminal.
- Connect each zone wire to the corresponding Zone terminal (Zone 1, Zone 2, etc.).
6. Power On & Test
Restore power to the controller. Open the Grungard app, pair the device, and test each zone using the "Water Now" feature. Verify that every valve opens and closes correctly before creating schedules.
