Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Grungard Inc. (“Grungard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit us.grungard.com (the “Site”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
By continuing to browse the Site after being shown the cookie banner, you consent to our use of non-essential cookies as described below. You may withdraw consent at any time through the methods described in Section 6.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to site owners. Cookies can be:
- Session cookies: Temporary cookies that are erased when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.
- First-party cookies: Set directly by us (Grungard) on our domain.
- Third-party cookies: Set by external services we use, such as analytics or advertising platforms.
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as web beacons (clear GIFs), pixel tags, and local storage objects. This policy refers to all of these collectively as “cookies.”
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting your privacy preferences.
- session_id: Maintains your authenticated session while you use the Grungard dashboard. Duration: session.
- csrf_token: Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. Duration: session.
- cookie_consent: Stores your cookie consent preferences. Duration: 12 months.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (security and functionality). These cannot be disabled.
2.2 Analytics & Performance Cookies
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of the Site. They help us understand which pages are the most and least popular and how visitors move around the Site. All information collected by these cookies is aggregated and anonymized.
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*, _gid): Collects anonymized data on page views, session duration, device type, and traffic source. Duration: up to 2 years.
- Hotjar (_hjSession*, _hjSessionUser*): Records anonymized heatmaps and session replays to improve UX. Duration: up to 1 year.
Legal basis: Consent.
2.3 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization, such as remembering your language preference, timezone, or previously selected dashboard view. If you do not allow these cookies, some of these personalization features may not function.
- grungard_prefs: Stores UI preferences such as dashboard layout and unit display (metric / imperial). Duration: 6 months.
- locale: Stores your selected language or regional preference. Duration: 12 months.
Legal basis: Consent.
2.4 Marketing & Targeting Cookies
These cookies are set through our Site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertisements on other sites. They do not store personal information directly but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and device.
- Google Ads (_gcl_au): Measures ad conversion and attribution. Duration: 90 days.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag (li_fat_id, UserMatchHistory): Used for LinkedIn retargeting campaigns and B2B audience matching. Duration: up to 1 year.
- Meta Pixel (_fbp, _fbc): Tracks website events to measure the effectiveness of Facebook and Instagram advertising. Duration: up to 90 days.
Legal basis: Consent.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some of the third-party services listed above may themselves set additional cookies as described in their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review:
4. Cookies and the Grungard SIMPro Platform
When you access the Grungard SIMPro web dashboard (a login-protected area of the Site), we use strictly necessary session cookies to authenticate your session and maintain security. We also use functional cookies to remember your dashboard settings across visits. These cookies are not used for advertising purposes.
The SIMPro hardware device itself does not set browser cookies. Device telemetry is transmitted directly to our cloud infrastructure over a secured cellular data channel.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a “Do Not Track” (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your online activities tracked. There is currently no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. We honor DNT signals by disabling non-essential analytics cookies when a DNT signal is detected. Strictly necessary cookies remain active regardless of DNT.
6. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several options for controlling cookies:
6.1 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the Site, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner where you can accept or decline non-essential cookies by category. You can update your choices at any time by clicking the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of this Site.
6.2 Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Site. Browser-specific instructions:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.

- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out: optout.aboutads.info
7. California Residents (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), cookies that are used for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Grungard does not sell your personal information in exchange for money. However, we use marketing cookies that may constitute sharing under CCPA. California residents have the right to opt out of such sharing by using the preference controls described in Section 6 or by contacting us at [email protected].
8. EEA & UK Residents (ePrivacy / GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we obtain your prior consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device, in accordance with the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR. Strictly necessary cookies are placed on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional website. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via the cookie banner or email.
